My Testimony

(A photo taken on a car ride in Mexico)

So many of you know I went to Mexico,  and so tonight I am going to share with you my testimony of my experience in Mexico.
First I'll give you a brief history of what has happened this year. This year I have to say I have gotten distracted, I've cared more about my appearance and what others think of me instead of what God has to say about me... I have to apologize to all my readers, because I have not been the visionary daughter I set out to be, at the beginning of this blog.
This past year I really have given a good amount of my focus to fashion, and entertainment. I've cared more about keeping up with the times, then keeping up with the person's desires that created time! You see I didn't keep up with certain modesty standards I had for myself and watching more romantic chick flix's than needed.. this past year has been full of distractions, and I fell easily.

In Mexico God brought several things to my attention, one that I had exchanged his great opinion for the praises of others over my vanity. The second was my dress, I noticed on the trip I had began to push some modesty boundaries I had set up for myself. The third, my focus lately has really struggled with relationships and God brought to my attention that I really relied on a future with a significance other, and he asked me "If I wiped the surface clean of everyone, and you only had me for the rest of your life, would you be satisfied with just me?" In all honesty, I regret to say my answer was no, I mean if you really think about it, that is all girls talk about. It's girls main focus to find someone. Anyways, on this trip, God remined me of my first love, and my main purpose... to carry out the first commandment!  To focus on Him, and let everything go... to trust. And I'm just going to be real I have  horrible trusting issue... which I didn't notice until this trip either!
This has been an eye opening trip, and the freedom I got from this trip is amazing. I will share more about the other things that happened later, right now I'm going to go read!

Thank you all that have stuck with me,
In Christ,
Kassidy!

(Also just wanted to thank the Pruett girls that really encouraged me on this trip, you girls have an amazing understanding of Christ and his Spirit. Love you girls!)

MISSIONS TRIP!

Dear Family and Friends,
I’d like to share with you a trip that I am going to take that will be a life changing experience for the people I come in contact with, as well as myself.

Can you envision a land where poverty, hardship, hunger and a lack of resources both spiritually and physically keep many from hearing the Gospel of Jesus Christ? I want to share with you a challenging ministry opportunity God has presented to me. June 21-28, I will be going to Guadalajara, Mexico with a team from Fire church and my youth group, The Furnace. My one-week trip will focus on coming along side a missionary family that has been in the area for 12 years. The family currently oversees a School of Ministry and help support several churches in the area. Here’s a little more detail:
  • First, we will be allowing God to work in our lives through the personal enrichment that comes from this type of mission trip. I’m certain God will change my life greatly as a result of stepping out to serve Him in this important area.
  • Second, we will be participating in helping with a children’s feeding program, where over 10 children are fed a warm meal.
  • Third, we will be evangelizing door to door during the week and also evangelizing in the marketplace
  • Fourth, we’ll be involved in teaching in the School of Ministry.
  • Fifth, we’ll be doing a Vacation Bible School for children.
  • Sixth, we will be involved in Community Outreaches where we’ll sing, do puppet shows share our testimonies, share the Gospel, and work with Children.

I’m excited about the opportunity and experience that lie ahead. I hope you see the value in what we will accomplish. As you can imagine, a trip like this requires financial support from a number of people. In order to go on this mission trip I need to raise $1500.00 by April 25th.  If you can support me  in a financial way, I would be very grateful. And, most importantly, I also need your prayer support. Prayer is the fuel that will allow us to be successful as we follow God’s leading in our ministry in Mexico. Without prayer, little or nothing will happen.

If you would like to be part of this mission through your financial support, send a check to: 8410 Pit Stop Court Concord, NC 28027 by April 25th. Please make your check payable to Fire Church. It is imperative that you mark the memo portion of your check: Kassidy Burke  Mexico Mission Trip. You may also give by going online to: www.fire-church.org Just make sure you put my name  in the comment box. All contributions are tax deductible.
Thank you so much for prayerfully considering if this is something you’d like to participate in. May God bless you for your time and support.

BE it.

So many times I see amazing people doing amazing things... and I also see people who don't do amazing things! I hear so many people say "That's horrible!" and then don't do anything to change things. I have a question....

HOW ABOUT INSTEAD OF WATCHING CHANGE, WE ARE THE CHANGE???

Now don't give me the excuses... "Oh well I'm just one person." "oh, that dollar that I gave to that company that gives to abortion industries won't do anything... its just a dollar."
May I remind you that MANY times in the bible just one person is the center of God's amazing plans, that he sets out!

It took ONE of Daniel, ONE of Moses, ONE of David, etc! If there is a will, there is a way... You just have to find it!

(Also you have no right to sit there and say... "oh, that's horrible!" because there sin is just as bad as yours, for not carrying out the mandate of Christ! "But, I do, I tell people!" I just have to share one of my pet peeves here... yes you saving someone is GREAT! But when that person comes back to you and they are happy to see their "Christ-like friend" just to get snubbed! That is not Christ- like and if that's your attitude of carrying out the mandate, then honey you need to change some things...)

We as Christians need to stop watching change and BE the change. Invite neighbors over and share God's love by just being their friends. When you go to the mall invite a girl from church you have never connected with before... stand on a street corner and pray for people. Hand out John 3:16 at the grocery store as people go in! Have celebrations at your house where families can just come to celebrate the awe of God, with food and music. :) There are so many ways to spread change and love if we just take time to find them... I encourge you this week to write down ways you can change things and then post them on your blog and maybe even to plan on exicutiong one of your ideas!

If you do this, please let me know! I would love to hear your ideas... :)

In love,
Kassie

A Friend to Mexico needs our Help!

Dear Friends,
A friend of mine from "Teen Impact" the blog, is going to mexico with some family friends in Febuary. It cost $3,000 dollars to build a one room house there in mexico. She is asking that we, as brothers and sisters, would help donate to help out our other brothers and sisters who really need our help in mexico. I know many of us are going through hard times right now... but none of us are going through hard a time as they. She is trying to raise 400 dollars to take, to help, with the building cost. If you would like to donate or find out more go to this link: http://impactteens.blogspot.com/2011/01/mission.html

Lets reach that goal even if we just give a penny!

In Christ,
Kassidy
