Planning our single years.

Dearest sisters in Christ,
I was listening to Generations with Vision radio broadcast and they were talking about family legacy. Well, Mr. Kevin Swanson said something that really opened my eyes.

"Jesus was on earth for 3 years and he didn't go to congress to get out the word he did it throe relationships."

At this point in the conversation they were talking about the family and making that your legacy, making that your standpoint to get out the word of Christ. Building up nations, with relationships of your children! How true is that?... The next thing they went into was preparing your self for that future helpmeet and getting the bigger picture of starting a family into your head.

Well, this got me to thinking. If Jesus came to earth knowing he only had 3 years, why, out of all places and types of atmosphere did he chose a family type?...I mean if you really think about it he treated his disciples like family going from place to place. He, God/Jesus, didn't go to take over the Roman empire or anything like that. He went to disciple and to build relationships and throe that he brought the word of God to the world. Throe a family type circle!

Girls, Ladies, God only had 3 years to build up that family circle. How many years do we have?...A couple of months ago a question poped in my head.

"If my prince came today would I be ready?"

I knew that answer right away. Nope. (period) We as girls visualize and dream of the day when Prince Charming will come and sweep us on our feet but, we never stop and think of the question above.

As I listened to the broadcast and the "only 3 years" kept coming to my brain. I thought what if God only gave me 3 years to prepare, how would I spend those years? How would I prepare? What are the secret dynamics of being a helpmeet, mother and the running operator of the home? What skills are the most important and what skills, what type of preparedness would be the most helpful to my future husband?...As I thought about these questions I decided to make a list of skills that I knew would be important.

Also I am asking all the godly homemaking moms I know about what skills that they have learned and are the most helpful... Also I'm going to be asking some dads I know, what skill that your wife has is the most helpful?

Girls we need to plan out what we want to learn so when that door opens for you to be a helpmeet, you will know that your single years were spent wisely and that you have all the skills you need to raise up a mighty family for God.

Here are a couple of basic things to learn:

Money Management (This is VERY important! No skipping this one. Big no, no.)

Cooking (We all have to eat)

Baking (Now what man does not like a homemade cake? I know my daddy does! ;))

All the rules of cleaning (I'm still learning this one too)

How to clean (Its one thing to know the rules, Learning is whole other matter entirely)

Plan! (This will come in handy, trust me!)

Order (I've learned that a great place to learn this, is in your room)

The Bible (cover to cover honey, cover to cover ;) If we are going to be helping raise up godly kids we might want to know the basics)

Letting things Go (We need to learn this now that way when the mail gets piled up, we will just be able to say "To the dump with you!")

This is just some....I have a long list! You see I need help picking out the most important ones. :)

Let's not waste these years...let's learn! Let's PREPARE!!!

In Christ,
Kassidy
